7 Hook Patterns That Consistently Perform

1. The Pain Point Opener

"Tired of..." or "Frustrated by..." — immediately signals you understand the viewer's problem. Works because the viewer self-identifies in the first word.

2. The Visual Anomaly

Something unexpected happens in frame. A product that moves on its own. An extreme close-up. A color that doesn't belong. The brain can't look away until it resolves the novelty.

3. The Bold Claim

"This one trick..." or "The $X product that does Y". Works best with social proof (a number, a brand name, a before/after) to back it up.

4. The Direct Gaze

The talent looks directly into the lens and starts talking. Feels personal, like a DM. Works particularly well on mobile where the face fills the screen.

5. The Question

"What if you could..." or "Have you ever...". The brain automatically tries to answer, which creates engagement momentum.

6. The Fast Montage

3-5 rapid cuts in the first 2 seconds. Product shots, lifestyle shots, text overlays. Creates energy and signals "this is worth your time."

7. The Slow Reveal

Opposite of fast. A slow, cinematic start — often drone shot, beautiful lighting, no voiceover for 2-3 seconds. Works for premium/luxury positioning.
