A shot list turns taste into instructions

A team cannot reliably reproduce “make it feel like this reference.” They need to know what the camera sees, what changes during the shot, how long the beat lasts, and what has to be prepared. A structured shot list makes those choices discussable before production.

AdScanVideo creates a first draft from sampled frames and available dialogue. A producer can then add the fields the source video cannot reveal, such as location, talent, props, equipment, crew, schedule, and budget.

01

Start with the reference

Upload the full clip or a focused section up to 10 minutes. Original files are more reliable than platform links.

02

Generate the breakdown

Choose Shot breakdown to receive timestamped framing, action, movement, lighting, dialogue, and recreation prompts.

03

Convert it into production

Add ownership, location, talent, props, audio, equipment, and status columns before the shoot.

Example shot-list row

This example shows the format and level of detail. Actual results depend on the video, selected mode, captions, audio quality, and visible evidence.

SHOT 04 · 00:08–00:12
SIZE — Medium close-up
SUBJECT — Presenter seated at a desk, product in foreground
ACTION — Presenter rotates the product and points to the side control
CAMERA — Static at eye level; slight rack focus toward the control
LIGHT — Soft window key from frame left; warm practical in background
AUDIO — Dialogue should be verified against the source
PRODUCTION — Desk, product hero unit, window diffusion, practical lamp

Useful fields from the analysis

  • Shot number and timestamp
  • Framing and subject placement
  • Visible action and continuity
  • Camera movement and transition clues
  • Lighting, dialogue, and edit rhythm

Fields your producer should add

  • Location, talent, wardrobe, and props
  • Camera, lens, grip, and lighting equipment
  • Audio plan and approved script
  • Owner, priority, schedule, and status
  • Budget, rights, safety, and approvals
A sampled-frame analysis can infer visual changes, but it cannot know the original lens, lighting equipment, crew setup, or production intent. Treat technical specifics as a planning hypothesis.

Questions before you analyze

What is a video shot list?

It is a chronological production plan describing each shot, usually including framing, subject, action, camera movement, duration, audio, and production requirements.

Can AI make a shot list from an existing video?

Yes. AdScanVideo samples the timeline and produces a first draft with timestamps and visual details. A producer should add logistical fields and verify technical assumptions.

How long can the reference video be?

The current maximum is 10 minutes and 200 MB for uploaded files.

Can I export the shot list?

Completed reports can be copied or exported to Word and PDF.
